"The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. ... For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never yet visited.”             C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory

C.S. Lewis' College Choir Comes to NYC

Fr. Graeme Napier, Rector of St John’s in the Village is, like C.S. Lewis, both an Irishman from County Down and an old member of Magdalen College, Oxford.

He invites members of the C.S. Lewis Society to come to hear and meet the world-renowned Choir of Magdalen College to enjoy the glorious sacred music which Lewis enjoyed in chapel at Evensong every day.

The church is located on the corner of West 11th Street and Waverly Place in Greenwich Village. Please come on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 11am (Choral Eucharist) followed by Drinks Reception and Meet-and-Greet at which members can meet the Informator Choristarum (choir-master), organs scholars, Academical Clerks (choral scholars), and choristers.
